To achieve this goal, the Committee implemented the Reign of Terror (1793-1794), during which time it accumulated virtual dictatorial powers over France. * * * _This is a companion discussion topic for the original definition at [https://www.worldhistory.org/Committee\_of\_Public\_Safety/](https://www.worldhistory.org/Committee_of_Public_Safety/)._ * * * **Join the Conversation** - Have you come across a different take on this topic? - If you've studied this topic, what would you add for other readers? - What did you think about this definition?
