Award-winning writer Madeline Miller's newest novel, **[_Circe_](https://www.amazon.com/CIRCE-New-York-Times-bestseller/dp/0316556343?tag=anciehistoenc-20)**, tells the story of a sorceress who was once the onetime lover of the wily Odysseus. The heart of the novel is, nonetheless, that of a woman's yearning for self-discovery, purpose, and ultimately, empowerment. In this exclusive interview, **[Madeline Miller](http://madelinemiller.com/)** once again speaks to James Blake Wiener of **[Ancient History Encyclopedia (AHE)](http://www.ancient.eu/)**. * * * _This is a companion discussion topic for the original interview at [https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1372/interview-circe-by-madeline-miller/](https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1372/interview-circe-by-madeline-miller/)._ * * * **Join the Conversation** - What surprised you most in this interview? - Which part did you find most interesting, and why? - Anything here you'd push back on?
