Paulus Orosius (usually given as Orosius, 5th century) was a Christian theologian and historian who was also a friend and protege of Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430). He is best known for his work _Seven Books of History Against the Pagans_ (circa 418), in which he argued that the sack of Rome 410 CE by Alaric I, King of the Goths (reign 394-410), had nothing to do with the Roman adoption of Christianity, a claim popularly supported among the pagans of the day.
