'Rave Reviews' for Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey'

Surprisingly, early reactions to The Odyssey have been largely positive. This does make me more excited to see the movie, although I still don’t like the idea of the American accents. Hopefully, the setting, acting and music will make up for that!

So, how do you feel about the movie? Are you planning to watch it right away in the cinemas or wait a bit to see further reactions?

I’m very excited to watch it and definitely want to watch it in the cinema. Chistopher Nolan’s movies have so far never disappointed me, after all. Some people were upset about Helen of Troy being played by a black woman (that sounds racist to me) and some Greeks have voiced concern that no roles were given to Greek actors (fair point), but still… I hope it’ll be a great movie.

I also just got tickets to watch it in a few weeks. So far, Nolan’s The Prestige is, to me, his best storytelling. Since The Prestige is also adapted on a book (or a short story?), I’m always curious to see how he makes adapted stories. I’m very looking forward to watching Odyssey.

I must confess, I’ve only ever seen The Dark Knight, but none of his other movies, haha.

Yes, I’ve read many negative comments about Lupita Nyong’o playing Helen of Troy, and they definitely have racist undertones. I think she will do a great job. I do agree that more Greeks should be in the film, though.

I’ve never seen The Prestige, but obviously Christopher Nolan’s movies are always a hit.

Let’s see how he does with The Odyssey. Fingers crossed!

My favourite Nolan movie (so far) is Interstellar. I’ve watched it a couple of times now and it made my son cry (in a good way).

Christopher Nolan movies are always outstanding but my favourite is Dunkirk.
