Did you know that this forum community also works as a mobile app? 
Here’s how you can install it!
1) Download the Discourse App
Download the Discourse App on your mobile phone, tablet or computer. The app works on:
- Android
- iPhone & iPad
- Mac
2) Open the Discourse App
Click on the Discourse App Icon on your device:
3) Allow Notifications
When the app first opens, it will ask for permission to send you notifications. Allow notifications. There’s not much point to the app without notifications, as that’s how the app will let you know when someone has responded to you.
4) Add World History Encyclopedia Community
Once the app is open, click on the grey plus symbol (+) on the top left of the screen.
On the search screen, enter community.worldhistory.org into the grey search bar. Wait a second until our community appears below.
Click on the blue plus button (+) on the right of our community listing.
5) Click on the Community
Now click on the community name to open the community inside your Discourse app.
6) Log In
If it’s your first access, you will have to log in
7) Notifications
By default, you should receive notifications now. However, sometimes you don’t, so it’s best to double-check this straight away!
Click on the Community and then click on your user icon on the top right of the screen:
Then click the profile icon on the middle right and select Preferences:
On the top of this screen, scroll right a bit in the menu and select Notifications:
Finally, ensure that Live notifications is set to enabled.
When using iOS, only regular notifications are available:
7) Add to Home Screen
You can always access the community through the Discourse app. However, you can also install it as an app directly to your home screen. Open your browser (we’re using Google Chrome in our screenshots) and navigate to community.worldhistory.org.
Android & Chrome
Click on the three dots on the top right of your browser:
In that menu, scroll down (drag with your finger) until you see the Install and create shortcut option, and click on that.
You will be prompted whether you want to install the app, and click on Install.
The app will now be in your list of apps. To add it to your home screen, long-click the app icon and select the + Add to home screen option.
iOS & Safari
The instruction for iOS and Safari are essentially the same as for Chrome above, with slightly different wording. Navigate to community.worldhistory.org in Safari and then follow these instructions:

This is the WHE Community. Depending on your device type, you can drag it to a location on your home screen to gain instant access with one click!
