In honour of International Museum Day, what is your favourite museum in the world and the best artefacts you have encountered?

This may be a bit of an obvious/common answer, but mine would have to be The Louvre. My favourite sculpture has always been the Nike of Samothrace, so seeing her in person was breathtaking. It was also very special getting to see the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo.
I also really enjoyed the Vatican Museums, although it was incredibly crowded and hot. I made a rookie error when visiting the British Museum and only allowed myself about an hour and a half before it closed, so I will definitely need to go back.

Quite late with this post but im not really a photo person either sadly! I tend to try and experience the locations more and just focus on that more than needed haha.
I usually go with the British Museum as my favourite, but I recently fell in love with the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures Museum at the University of Chicago. It’s small but ram-packed with fantastic artifacts, also presented in ways I haven’t seen before. They have a display showing Mesopotamian pottery in chronological order and you can see the precise moment the potter’s wheel was invented just by looking at that display!

Oh I love the temple of Dendur in the Met. I first discovered it in 2004 when I was doing a journalism internship at the Dow Jones for my university studies. I lived in NYC for a few months all alone and I explored everything, and then coming upon this temple was like finding a hidden gem.
